1st Round IVF - any tips?
We are very excited to announce the start of our 1st round of IVF in about 15 days!!!! After 2 BFN ICI's at home, and 3 BFN IUI's at the doctor's office - we have decided it is time to move on and invest in IVF. Thanks to our amazing nurse who was able to save us about $1000 in medications, we were able to move our start date up from April to March! This is no cheap route - that's for sure but hoping the increased odds will pay off in the end. We will have the retrieval/transfer in mid-late April. I am nervous about giving myself the shots - were they easy or difficult for the rest of you? Any tips you can give us about the IVF process? Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers over the next two months.

The shots are super easy! They are so small...most of the time you can't feel them.
ReplyDeleteHi-I just found you through small obsessions. I am excited to follow you! Good luck as the IVF adventure begins!
ReplyDeleteYah! I was so happy to see a new post from you gals! IVF will be a little bit of an emotional roller coaster. The shots aren't that bad, although I only had to do the Lupron. Ang said the follistem stung pretty bad, but you can always ice your belly before you give the injection. The other big thing that I regret not being able to do more of is RELAX. I felt pretty stressed/excited about the whole process and I now wish I could have been more relaxed about the whole process. We will defenitly be thinking about you two over these next months! I'm SOOOO excited for you!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! Don't stress about the shots. I actually found it easier/less painful/less scary to give them to myself rather than have someone else do it. I won't say it's easy, but it's definitely not as bad as I thought it would be. IVF is definitely an emotional ride, but yes,the much greater chance of a payoff is worth it!
ReplyDeleteI would say the shots quickly become routine. The hardest thing about IVF is the added pressure to succeed and get your positive. IVF is the Last Chance Texaco of TTC.
